Old bird plays piano

I've taken up learning the piano.

Unfortunately though with the children's music lessons taking up any free money we have, I've had to resort to learning online.  But actually it's not so bad!

We have downloaded the Yousician app on the iPad and so far so good! With the free version you are limited to about half an hour learning time each day but for a beginner that's all you'd really want anyway.

On the rare occasion I am on my own I have started following the piano lessons, so I prop the iPad up where the books go and it can pick up the sound of your playing.
What's great is you can chose the 'pop route' and play along to songs or chose the 'classical route' and learn sheet music.
It's so easy to follow for an oldie like me that hasn't played since school, I actually feel like I am making progress.

What's great too is Kpops is using it to practice guitar, so I am following it with her for some Mummy/Daughter time, I'm pretty sure I'll be left behind soon - I'd forgotten how hard it is to learn the guitar and I've had to file my nails down now I have fat mumma fingers and not the slender hands I had as a teenager haha

The Yousician app also has a tuner section so Kpops has taken the very important role of chief tuner making us both feel rather professional!

Never mind keeping up with the Joneses, keeping up with the children is hard enough but the Yousician app is a fantastic way to attempt it!

Just need MrH to play the drums and we'll be in full swing 😆

Treasuring the Quality Street moments

Greedy Flamingo

This year the eldest turned 10. She thought it was fantastic, she had her ears pierced and is officially, according to herself, now old enough for the likes of Teen Vogue and lunching with friends (yeah right).

What was running through my head and heart was the panic of how little time we have left with little Miss Vogue to enjoy magical times such as Christmas.

So, whereas in the past our decorations would be up the week before Christmas Day, this year the tree was up on the 1st Dec.
We already had the yearly ritual of the girls buying a new bauble but this year I handed them a free reign on the whole tree, it's rather bare on the top but actually doesn't look too bad and you can't deny the cosy feeling that fairy lights give you whatever time of year!

This year has now seen the introduction of Christmas radio every morning with breakfast (loving Smooth Christmas Radio) and waking up to see what antics our new pet, Antonia the Yodelling Flamingo has been up to around the Christmas Tree.

Christmas fever has taken over and we are loving it!

In some ways it's the 'big' birthdays that reminds us to treasure our time together and that, I am so very grateful for!

FiveinOne Review

The Dancing Daughters go to Bills
Author - Livy

We all went to dinner at Bills last night and decided it would be fun to review places we venture to.

So here we go!

The children's menu was £6.50 for 3 courses and a drink.

Starter

We all had the same starter = hummus, carrot sticks and cucumber - comes in a jar and looks cool!

Main course

Livy and EasyE = spaghetti and meat balls.
Kpops = macaroni cheese

Dessert

We all had the same dessert = chocolate brownies with ice cream.

We all thought the food was lovely but Kpops didn't like the macaroni cheese because she thought the sauce didn't taste like normal cheese.

The decor was amazing and we loved the candles!!

Sadly, the toilets were smelly and dirty :(
